Indiana has more than 4.9 million acres of forested land, and that amount is growing. Since 2011, more than 28,000 acres have been added to Indiana’s forests. This amounts to an increase of around 0.6 percent. Trees do make for some fantastic scenery; however, they can be a problem if you are trying to build. Land clearing is a must if you are planning new construction or would like to convert existing woodlands into farmland. Land clearing involves more than just cutting trees and leveling the ground.

It should also be done with minimal impact on the environment, taking into consideration the prevention of erosion and preserving the natural habitat of wildlife. The disposal of removed land and trees is something that also must be considered. In some areas, permits are required, zoning laws are in effect and the area must be free of any protected species.
